P8: Presented the new product proposal to stakeholders.
P9: Explained analysed feedback for project feasibility.
I covered most the points in the presentation. However, there were a few flaws in my pitch that the panel highlighted such as:
Mistaking RAJAR for Ofcom- I need to look this up more
Talk about staffing and staffing costs more.
Have more clarity in presenting the meaning of creating a playlist.
1.To address point one I would change the slide to say Ofcom in my presentation. In addition I would include more content on what this would mean. For example, I would need to make sure that all the content of the program and playlists are appropriate for the timings they are being played, so that young children don't hear content that is inappropriate for them.
Also, we would needto ensure that content that is directly negative towards certain religions isn't played on air as Ofcom states "4.1 Broadcasters must exercise the proper degree of responsibility with respect to the content of programmes which are religious programmes" .So ensuring the lyricsof songs chosen by the audience are of a respectful nature is imperative.
Furthermore, ensuring that all versions of songschosen are theclean radio editedversions of songs. This is because there are certain words Ofcom prohibit the use of on the radio. So to ensure we can play the app users choices me must first ensure the clean version is the one being played on the radio.
2. To address this point I would need to list all the staffing. For example, I would need to say that I would need : Agraphics designer- to design the app An app developer/coder - to make the app Someone Who could distribute the app onto the app store - so the app can get to the target audience A marketing team/ personal- To help get the word out and promote the app to thetarget audience Someone to maintain the app and regulate the app- to make sure it runs smoothly An accountant/Impresario to work out all of the production costs - to make sure they stay on budget Then the next issue was how we would staff and afford all of these people. Well we could utilise and take on apprentices as they only cost around £3.70 per hour. This would be ideal in termsof getting someone to maintain the app as apprenticeships normally last for about 2 years. In addition to this pre university students/ university students looking for work experience would be good way to get these people as they have the required skills set and are willing to work for free. In addition to this we could also use university students just coming out of university as they are fully trained and want work, so would be willing to to work for fairly cheap rates as they don't have a lot of real world work experience.
3. In order to add more clarity to what I said I would re-phrase it to emphasise the point it is to aid radio not replace it and say " It is a convergence of technology to aid the way listeners interact with the radio and you cant listen to the playlists you create unless they are featured on the radio"
Here are some videos of me talking through and giving some examples of what I might say as corrections if I was to do this presentation again in the future:
I believe that my project will be feasible with the changes that I have made based on the feedback I was given. I believe this because my app seemed to be a popular idea and proposal in the pitch and with the added changes I have made it gives my proposal a sense of clarity and reliability as minor errors and word mistakes such as the RAJAR and Ofcom mix up has been corrected and the audience shall get a clearer understanding of what the app is and that convergence between radio and app/social media is the main purpose and focus of the app. I also believe that the changes I have made to the pitch will reassure the next person that I pitch it to that this product is well planned and thought through in all aspects of the product (production with the corrections in talking about staffing, marketing and content with the more clarity in presenting the meaning of creating a playlists and also the legal and ethical certainty of the product in the research into Ofcom and using the the correct name), making the product overall more marketable and feasible.
