Set designs- These are set designs for character bedrooms , each bedroom would be quite small and virtually identical in structure to each other because it would be set on a space ship so saving space and being cost effective would be one of main priorities in design.
Character ideas and profiles
Title and font
I have chosen to call the program Air Tight. I chose air tight because it is a short title so catchy and easy to remember. Also the connotations of "air tight" are that there isn't much air to breath which is the main plot of the story line. In addition to this is also references packaging when something is air tight it is compactly packaged and there isn't any room to mov, which is similar the the characters situation on the ship.
I chose this font because it is easy to read and also being all capital format adds a sense of urgency to the title. I chose to make the font 3D because it makes the title stand out and adds a sense of realism to the title likes its alive and pooping out of the page. I also chose a black and white colour scheme because they are striking contrasting colours and it makes the title stand out and seem important. In addition Black and white is also the colours of news papers so it connotes breaking news.
I chose to put a wisp of smoke through the text because it indicates that there is something wrong with the air and air is scares, which is the main premise of the programme. In addition to this the smoke also indicates mystery and deception, which all adds to the drama of the title. Further more, the grey smoke also fitted into the black and white colour scheme of the title and tied the title all in neatly together.
DETAILED PLOT OUTLINE Air Tight pilot episode starts off following Astra as she moves through a crowd of people pick pocketing as she goes. There is a POV shotfrom her perspective as she watches Celina flirting with a guy to getwhat she wants. She then moves on going through the crowd ending up outside as private important looking door of the spaceship. She spies through the slight opening of the door. We are then introduced to the Characters Terran and Behram asBehram tellsTerran and the group about the air shortage. There is a shuffling behind and it is revealed that Celina too hasbeen listening and as Astra hides, They find both of them anda chase begins. Celina andAstra magi to escape and the episode ends with them introducing them selves to each other and talking about the information they justheard. P3- Create a pitch to communicate an idea to the client
This is a first draft presentation for my pitch:
M2-identify potential client questions and amend pitch and proposal questions
I presented my first draft pitch to a small focus group so that I could gain feedback on how to improve the presentation for my real pitch and this is the constructive feedback and questions I received were:
Include more detail on the points you made in your research (e.g examples of where we see the research in current shows to help the audience understand your point )
To do this I am going to look at two current TV shows. I am going to look at Riverdale because it a recent teen drama of Netflixthat all of myfocus group said they watched and it isvery popular at the moment andthen I am also goingto look at the the Tv programme The 100 because it is aTeen Sci-Fi drama, so is very similar to my show. I am going finddifferent ways to apply myresearch to these shows, e.g. by analysing different characters by TV trope and analysing the effect an influence this has on the audience. In addition to this I will also analyse how thescenario research ties in with theshows plot, in particular looking at The 100 becauselike my show it too isn’t set in modern earth times, so is different form the vernacularteen drama setting.
2. Can you tell us in more detail about your characters? ( to give the executives more of an indication about why and how the show is relatable for teen audiences ) To do this I am going to create 4 differentslides on each character for my pitch andin them I am goingto write in greater detail about what character trope they are andhowthis makes them relatable to the target audience and why thistype of character would appeal to the target audience. In addition to this I willcreate shortmood boardsof the characters to create avisual representation of the character and give a short visual insight into their most relatable attributes.
3. What sort of title graphics will there be for the show (instead of the plain text)?
To do this I will be sure to include the smoke title graphics I made for the show on my power point, to make the title more visually exciting and dramatic. I think this will also help whoever is watching my presentation get an instant feel into what the show is about with the connotations I tried to create with the title graphics.
4. could you Include a BBC Tag and copy of the original brief to show attention to detail when it comes to the client and the brief?
To do this I will put a small BBC3 logo in the bottom left hand corner of my slides. I will make sure that the logo is in the exact same place in each slide, I am going to do this because I think it will make my pitch look more professional and will give the people I am pitching to the impression that I know both the company I am supplying the show for and about their target audience because it was created specifically for them.
5. Add more colour to the presentation and make the layout neater and more consistent to help with guiding the audience to easily navigate the presentation whilst they watch you present.
I will do this by adding visual aids and information that correspond to my research. For example, on slides where I am talking about other shows I have researched I will include pictures of that show or pictures of the character I am talking about from that show. In addition to this I will include more pictures in a mood board like fashion when talking about my show. For example, on character slides I will put up character related pictures on the slide representing thins such as hobbies of the character or similar looking characters on other TV shows
6.Where did your research come from?Could you include links to the research papers? To complete this I will include links to all the websites I found the research papers on in my slides and have them in a smaller but clear font.
Taking all these comments into consideration I then amended my presentation to produce my final pitch
This is a copy of the Proposal Presentation I made as my final pitch
