What is the Focus of Heart Radio?
The official remit of Heart Radio is to provide "the latest celebrity photos, showbiz stories, soap spoilers, competitions & local news!". Heart Radios focus is specifically on music and music culture content wise but also provide a variety of celebrity gossip and debate and feature a variety of local news and radio competitions.
Target Audience
Heart's target audience are aged between 25-44 both male and female. They cater for their larger target audience by featuring music from across 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s in addotion to including some current chart music.
What does the station do to appeal to this audience?
They do this by featuring music from across 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s but also including some current chart music, to incorporate all age brackets of their target audience. They also feature both male and female presenters on their different shows, to relate to both the male and female demographics of their target audience. In addition to this programming is structured around a typical work day, For example, drive time in the evenings from 4-7pm around the typical working day. In addition to this the presenters are all within this age bracket and talk about personal stories and anecdotes that would relate to the target audience.
How is the station structured and organised?
Heart Radio is structured up with different shows presented by different presenters throughout the day. For example this is the programming schedule for a typical day on Heart:
Different shows provide different amounts of content and styles of music to suit the audience. For example, breakfast may include more talking and upbeat but chill music and some games to help the audience wake up, where as the 1-4am slot would include less chatter and games because there would b less people listening and it is designed for those working a night shift so it would include more musi to help those just see through to the end of their shift.
