A majority of the film is set in the Marine Life Institute in California. The film represents a very fortunate representation of global culture as California is a place that can afford to build and spend money on animal rehabilitation and the background people in the movie are able to spend disposable income on visiting such places. I would say that this in turn is a fairly accurate representation of quite a lot of American and Western cultured places as a high percentage of these people are able to afford such things. However, I would argue that this is not an accurate representation of global culture as a whole because for a large percentage of people and places this is simply not financially feasible. On the other hand, the film is not aimed at such people so in terms of reliableness to the target audience I would say that this is a fairly accurate representation of their environment.

The Naruto is set on fictional blue planet, Earth, that includes a minimum of one continent, which is in turn segmented into a number of different countries, representing a reality similar to ours.
In Naruto different countries keep peace and stability between themselves through money and power. Although treaties are regularly and routinely signed they are generally not worth much and are often broken or cheated. Many people draw parallels between this and the history of feudal Japan, and say that although not an accurate representation or a focal cultural point to show that it does have a certain element of truth to some of the Japanese culture of the past. However, the anime does incorporate modern day technology such as televisions, refrigerators and air conditioners, ect and have the characters eating from take away boxes and doing other activities seen in modern day. |
Finding DoryDory and Family- Well Dory is on a quest to find her family and she has many flashbacks of her parents playing with and supporting her with her disability and teaching her to be safe, which are all things for the mass target audience of western culture to relate to. Dory and Friendship- This matches the environment because the ocean is a big place and the Marine Life centre is quite small, so it demonstrates that you can find friends anywhere and stays true to the characters personality as a friendly , likeable fish. Dory and Disability- Dory has a disability and relates very clearly to the theme due to this and the environment that the film is set in is one that although is there to help animals with their disabilities also segregates them in the process and doesn't allow them to live in their natural environment and be integrated with their normal society, which they are capable of doing , |
Naruto Naruto and Friendship-
Naruto has no family and is outcast from his village environment his friends are effectively his family and it truly highlights the importance of theme of friends and needing support Naruto and Fighting the darker side of yourself- The character is always trying to contain the 9 tail fox and as a result is cast out and feared from his environment, which caused negative effects on his character ,which he then also has to overcome to succeed in his endeavours Naruto and Hard work- Naruto has to work hard to control himself and to achieve his goals. He often faces many set backs testing his character but ultimately adding to it. This is an admirable and honest quality to have in a n environment where so often contracts and agreements are cheated and broken. |
