News Corp has a world wide audience reach meaning it can be consumed by audiences from many different countries all over the world. (all the countries highlighted in red)
Where as small companies have a smaller audience reach. Such as The Mirror only has an audience reach of uk companies. (as shown in blue below)

Media formats and platforms
Before all the modern age advances in technology news was only distributed through word of mouth and print. Examples of print include leaflets, posters and news papers. Most Newspapers consisted of a mixture of articles and pictures as pictures broke up the article and added visual variety to keep the reader engaged with the paper. The sun, Metro and The Guardian are all examples of News providers who present their news through print format (newspapers).
However as technology has advanced so has the way the mass majority consume their news as now their are not only more traditional technological ways ,such as TV and radio, to consume the news but also platforms such as social media, websites and apps to consume media.
In addition, Since apps and websites are available through mobile phones, ipods and other portable electronic devices news can be accessed anywhere at anytime.
