P5: TITLE - CONDUCT TESTING ON THE FINISHED INTERACTIVE MEDIA PRODUCT
This is a video of the app functioning and a commentry of what you see as you work you way through the app
I will ask the people who are going to be using my app to individually test it on their Ipone devices (or if they don’t own an iPhone I will ask them to use my iphone) and then ask them to each to answer questions about the: functionality (e.g. working internal/external navigation, content loads/works, sound – volume appropriate, no background noise) usability (e.g. clear navigation) user interaction load times of pages/screens completeness accuracy (e.g. proofread, spell-checked, text readable with background colour, clarity) accessibility (e.g. alt tags, easy to use, clear text size) performance.
I will gather the information by video recording the people who are testing my app. I will record them both using and answering the questions I have planned out on the app.
The Questions I will ask include:
Functionality questions: Does the app work? Is there any glitches? Does the content load well?
Usability questions:
Is the app easy to navigate? Is the app easy to work out?
User interaction questions:
Is the app complicated to use? Would you find this app useful?
Load times questions: Does the app load all of the content successfully? Does the the app take a long time to load? does it take a long time to change from page to page of the app?
Completeness:
Do you feel the app has enough content to be useful? Would you be surprised to come across the app in the app store ? Do you think all of the apps features coincide well with one another?
Accuracy questions:
Is the SPAG of the app all correct? Are the images high quality? Are all the images relevant? Is the text readable and aesthetically pleasing?
Accessibility questions:
Between the numbers 1-10 rate how easy the app is to use (1 being super difficult to use and 10 is super easy to use)
Can you use and access all the interactive features easily ?
Is the text easy to see ?
Performance questions: Between the numbers 1-10 rate the overall performance of the app (1 being Terrible to use and 10 being amazing) What were the best features of the app? Are there any areas you think that can be improved upon with the app?
REACTIONS TO APP VERSION 1
REVIEW OF APP VERSION 1
REACTION TO APP VERSION 2
So after the reaction of the first version of the app I noticed that there was a major problem with the quiz and they all didn't like it so I decided to remove in completely as the app still had two interactive features without it.
REVIEW OF APP VERSION 2
My review/evaluation of the app
Good points: Positive feedback I have drawn from my audience feedback is that the app:
Is easy to navigate, use and understand. This is good because a lot of the time tourists won't be from England and there for don't speak english as a first language, so the app being easy to understand and use means that they can still find it useful even if it is not in there first language .
The images are all high quality and aesthetically pleasing to the audience and this is good because it makes the app look appealing and promotes Cambridge in a visually pleasing way.
The interactive features all work and are simple and quick to use . This is good because it means the app successful and functions well and performs it's purpose efficiently
Fields of improvement for the app:
SPAG- Some of the grammar and spelling were incorrect. This would need to be fixed if the app was to be made available to the public as some of the pages look messy as there are too many spaces between words and also tourists won't be from England and there for don't speak english as a first language, so misspelling ay be confusing
Not enough information- A lot of my audience feedback said that there was not enough information or variety in activities to be explored on the app and this made the app quite boring or not as useful as it could be as Cambridge has a lot to offer.
Not enough instructions- I noticed that when testing the app I had to often tell the audience to click on hyperlinks as they didn't know to do it themselves. So to improve this I would put more imperative commands like "click here" over the hyperlink area, so that they could get the best and most informative use out of the app
How would I make these improvements?
To fix the SPAG in my app, I would simply go through my app and look for SPAG mistakes and note down all the ones I see and then I would go through and fix the mistakes on Xcode. After that I would double check my work with someone else and get them to look for SPAG mistakes and then fix whatever mistakes they find (if they found any).
To fix the content of the app I would add more events to the events page. For example, in addition to punting I would add information on university tours and theatres to visit and a wider variety of things to do in Cambridge. I would add hyperlinks to each of there website and also put more of a variety of images on the events page to advertise the different events and opportunities in Cambridge. Also I would add more options for the nights out page and include a couple more pubs from across Cambridge and also perhaps a couple of options for clubbing across Cambridge.
To improve the directions of the app I would put more imperative commands like "click here" over the hyperlink area, so that they could get the best and most informative use out of the app and also colour code the hyperlinks to distinguish between normal text and hyperlink. Also, on the map feature of the app I would include a little direction on the screen that says something like "click and drag on the map to explore Cambridge" to make it clear to the audience that it is an interactive feature.
